Writers' Guidelines
The Homesteader welcomes anything two Laura fans might discuss over coffee. Or tea and gingerbread.
Topics
The Homesteader was founded in 2002 "by Laura fans, for Laura fans." Any piece of writing that would fall under that category is welcome as a submission:
- Personal essays
- Features on different aspects of homesites
- Informational articles on anything Laura-related
- Reviews of books and other Laura-related resources
- Personal experience
- Unique insight on anything Laura-related
- Thematic discussion on one or many of the Little House® books
Submissions can be anywhere from 200-1500 words long, depending on the topic.
Credit
Writers receive full bylines and retain copyright.
Editing
All submissions will be edited for length and clarity. Upon request, writers can review edits.
Before Submitting
It's best to correspond with the Homesteader to make sure your topic is appropriate before submitting. Because of the editorial standards the Homesteader adheres to, we cannot promise to print every submission. We will, however, happily work with writers who would like guidance.
When Submitting
All submissions should be sent via email with all of the writer's contact information. Photos are welcome.
